President John Dramani Mahama has landed in Banjul, The Gambia, during a visit to express appreciation to the leaders of The Gambia and Senegal for attending his presidential inauguration on January 7, 2025.
The visit highlights President Mahama’s dedication to strengthening ties with Ghana’s West African neighbors.
The Gambian State House announced President Mahama’s visit to Banjul, a brief working engagement lasting one day.
Upon his arrival at Banjul International Airport, he was greeted by Gambian President Adama Barrow, who subsequently hosted a state luncheon in his honor.
The two leaders met privately to explore ways to enhance bilateral relations between their countries.
This diplomatic visit comes after President Barrow attended President Mahama’s inauguration ceremony in Accra earlier this month, underscoring the robust camaraderie between the two nations.
After completing his engagements in Banjul, President Mahama will head to Senegal for a meeting with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye. The Ghanaian leader is anticipated to return to Ghana from Dakar later today.
