Prince Acheampong, affectionately called ‘Sabuto’ and the head coach of King Faisal, has passed away following a battle with illness.
The 52-year-old had been hospitalized for several days but ultimately succumbed to an undisclosed illness.
In January 2025, Acheampong took over as the coach for the In Shaa Boys, succeeding Barnabas Awuni, who was dismissed following the team’s rocky start in the current Division One League.
After week 15, King Faisal stands ninth in Zone 2 with 20 points.
Acheampong has formerly collaborated with Asante Kotoko, Dunkwa United, and Fabulous Ladies FC.
His accomplishments include guiding Opoku Ware School (OWASS) to secure a third-place finish in the 2024 Ashanti Regional Inter-School Boys Soccer Competition and winning the Ashanti Regional Inter-School title three times with T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS.
