Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana celebrated his 23rd birthday in style by scoring a goal, finally breaking his two-year English Premier League goal drought.
Despite Southampton’s 3-1 loss to AFC Bournemouth, Sulemana’s goal was a major confidence boost. He was one of the standout performers in an otherwise tough game for The Saints.
“This is my first Premier League goal in two years. I’m glad it finally came, and hopefully, I can score more to help the team,” Sulemana shared after the match.
He also praised his teammates and coach for their support, saying their trust and confidence played a big role in his performance.
Sulemana’s big moment came when he received a perfect pass from Paul Onuachu near the edge of the penalty box. With quick control, he unleashed a powerful strike into the net, cutting Southampton’s deficit to 2-1. This was his first EPL goal since scoring against Liverpool last season.
Despite Sulemana’s effort, Bournemouth had the upper hand. Antoine Semenyo set up Marcus Tavernier for a third goal, sealing the win for the home team.
Though the match ended in disappointment for Southampton, Sulemana’s return to the scoresheet is a positive sign as he looks to build momentum and help his team in the coming games.
