Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received a full state welcome at the Istana Negara today during his state visit, which was invited by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia.

As reported by Malaymail, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof were in attendance.

The welcoming ceremony at the Istana Negara Parade Ground commenced with the Royal Malay Regiment Central Band performing the national anthems of both nations, followed by a 21-gun salute from the 41st Battery of the Royal Artillery Regiment.

The President of Indonesia proceeded to inspect the Main Guard of Honour, comprising three officers and 103 rank-and-file members from the First Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment, under the leadership of Major Azham Mohamad.

After the ceremony, Prabowo had an audience with Sultan Ibrahim at Dewan Seri Maharaja, during which he was also conferred the Darjah Kerabat Johor Yang Amat Dihormati I, the Most Esteemed Order of the Johor Royal I.

Sultan Ibrahim also hosted a state banquet in honor of the visiting president and his delegation.

Wisma Putra highlights that the state visit underscores Malaysia and Indonesia’s deep and distinctive friendship. It marks the first state visit by a foreign Head of State since His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim’s inauguration as King of Malaysia.

This marks Prabowo’s inaugural state visit to a Southeast Asian nation since he assumed the presidency of Indonesia on October 20 of the previous year.

Prabowo is later scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur to discuss bilateral cooperation and explore regional and international issues of shared interest.
