In the Bawku region, a cargo truck, accompanied by a military escort, was attacked by gunmen.
According to JoyNews correspondent Albert Sore, the vehicle was traveling from the border town of Kulungugu to Bawku township under a purported military escort when the gunmen, concealed in an obscure location nearby, opened fire on the truck before fleeing the scene.
He confirmed that the incident resulted in no casualties.
This latest incident highlights the ongoing insecurity in the area, which has seen frequent attacks on vehicles, sometimes even those under police escort.
These attacks are tied to the chieftaincy conflict between the Kusasi and Mamprusi factions in Bawku’s Upper East region.
