The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Ocloo, has declared the return of the National Sanitation Day and the Cleanest City Award. This initiative aims to foster a competitive and accountable attitude towards environmental cleanliness in the region.
She stated that, in alignment with the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s “Clean Up Ghana” initiative, a Regional Sanitation Day will occur on the last Friday of each month. This effort aims to enhance environmental cleanliness and waste management throughout the region.
During her inaugural address to the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC) management, the minister highlighted waste management and sanitation as critical performance indicators for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
She revealed that her administration plans to implement a comprehensive sanitation policy to encourage waste segregation and guarantee the provision of garbage bags and bins in public areas and homes.
