FAAPA's 8th General Assembly Unveils Visionary 2025 Action Plan

The 8th General Assembly of the Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA), themed “African Press Agencies as Vehicles for Promoting the Continent’s Health Sovereignty,” convened in Salé, where they endorsed the Federation’s action plan for 2025.

The action plan, established on the second day of the meeting led by FAAPA President and Moroccan Press Agency (MAP) Director General Fouad Arif, encompasses various areas such as meeting organization, professional training and development, multimedia, communication, and fostering cooperation and partnerships.

Regarding organizational matters, the plan schedules the 9th FAAPA General Assembly for late 2025. It will feature a panel discussion titled “Digital Innovation for African Media: Challenges and Opportunities for News Agencies.”

Under this action plan, the 10th FAAPA Executive Council meeting will be held in Libreville, Gabon.

FAAPA plans to conduct a photojournalism seminar, host a forum for news directors, and organize a gathering of women leaders at the Training Center for African Journalists (CAFJ) to enhance training and professional development.

FAAPA is organizing a symposium for information systems directors, a gathering of sports journalists from African news agencies, and workshops for fact-checkers.

On the multimedia front, the action plan includes redesigning and enhancing the editorial content of FAAPA’s website, strengthening the Network of Women Leaders (NWL-FAAPA) website, and expanding the Fact-Checking section of the FAAPA website.

A website dedicated to the network of sports journalists (RJS-FAAPA) will also be created.

Regarding communication, the action plan involves engaging in African and international media events and activities. It also includes presenting the FAAPA Grand Prize 2025 for the best video report, article, and photo.
