Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare pledges to promote ‘Made in Ghana’ agenda and reduce imports

The Minister-designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industries, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has pledged to promote the National Democratic Congress’ “Made in Ghana” agenda if approved by the Parliamentary Appointments Committee.

During her vetting on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, she highlighted her dedication to cutting down on imports and enhancing local manufacturing.

When asked about her plans to promote the “Made in Ghana” initiative, Mrs. Fosu-Adiare emphasized the significance of consuming locally produced foods like yam, cassava, and plantain as a crucial strategy to reduce reliance on foreign imports.

“If we eat what we grow, our imports will reduce,” she stated.

She highlighted her dedication to promoting Ghanaian products during her tenure as the former Minister of Tourism, where she urged industry stakeholders to present Ghanaian goods to both local and global audiences.

“When I was Minister for Tourism, I invited industry players to showcase what we have as a country,” she added.

Mrs. Fosu-Adiare encouraged Ghanaians to back the “Made in Ghana” initiative by buying locally produced goods and vowed to enhance these efforts if appointed as Minister.
