Apple Introduces “Priority Notifications” in iOS 18.4 – Here’s What You Need to Know

Apple on Friday released its first developer beta for iOS 18.4, which adds a new “Priority Notifications” feature, powered by Apple Intelligence

Apple just dropped the first developer beta of iOS 18.4, and it comes with a game-changing new feature: Priority Notifications, powered by Apple Intelligence. This AI-driven update is designed to help you stay focused by surfacing only the most important alerts—so you’re not constantly bombarded with distractions.

How Priority Notifications Work

Right now, your iPhone sorts notifications chronologically, meaning the latest alerts always appear at the top. But with Priority Notifications, important messages and alerts will get a dedicated section on your Lock Screen, even if they’re older than other notifications. Apple Intelligence will analyze and decide which notifications deserve top billing—but don’t worry, you can always swipe up to see everything.

How to Turn It On

By default, Priority Notifications are turned off, but enabling them is easy:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Notifications
  3. Select Prioritize Notifications
  4. Toggle the feature on
