Accra Technical University (ATU) has graduated a total of 5,829 students at its 24th congregation ceremony. The graduates include:
- 1,672 Bachelor of Technology (BTech) holders
- 3,465 Higher National Diploma (HND) holders
- 315 diploma holders
- 377 certificate recipients from the Ghana Armed Forces programme
These students came from the university’s various faculties, including Engineering, Built Environment, Applied Sciences, Applied Arts, and Business.
This year’s ceremony was held under the theme: “Celebrating 75 years of impacting society and driving innovation.”

The event was attended by several high-profile guests, such as:
- Hon. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings (MP for Klottey-Korle)
- Nii Kojo Ashifi Papanyira (Development Chief of the Ga State)
- Dr Emmanuel Newman (Director of Tertiary Education, Ministry of Education)
- Mr Austin Akufo Gamey (Labour Dispute Resolution expert)
- Prof. Amevi Acakpovi (Acting Vice-Chancellor of ATU)
- Representatives from the Military Academy and CTVET
- University deans, directors, and staff
A Message of Inspiration
In his speech, Prof. Amevi Acakpovi praised the graduating class of 2024 for their hard work and resilience. He said the ceremony was not just the end of their university journey but the beginning of a new chapter.
“We adapted, we learned, and today, we stand victorious,” he said, reflecting on the challenges students faced during their studies.
He encouraged the graduates to be bold, innovative, and lifelong learners. “Success is not just about what we achieve for ourselves, but the impact we make on others,” he added.
Encouraging Words from the Ministry of Education
Dr Emmanuel Newman, from the Ministry of Education, also addressed the graduates. He described their success as a symbol of how powerful education and determination can be.
“Today is not just about academic success. It’s about proving what’s possible with hard work,” he said.
He urged the graduates to use their technical skills to create their own opportunities and help reduce unemployment.
