Japanese authorities revealed the arrest of a suspect linked to a stabbing at a train station that left one person dead and two others injured.
The incident unfolded Wednesday evening near JR Nagano Station in central Japan, highlighting a rare occurrence of violent crime in the country.
The police detained a 46-year-old local man, initially charging him with attempted murder, a police spokesperson stated at a news conference aired by NHK.
A 49-year-old man lost his life, a man in his 30s suffered severe injuries, and a woman in her 40s received minor wounds, according to local reports. Japanese media, referencing investigative sources, stated that the three individuals were randomly targeted at a bus stop near the train station.
