Barber Granted Bail Following Alleged GH¢6,000 Theft

Illegal miner, 19, convicted in Tarkwa

A 21-year-old barber accused of stealing GH¢6,000 in Apatrapa, within the Kwadaso Municipality, has been granted bail of GH¢6,000 with one surety to be justified by the court.

Joy News reports that Gerrard Dwomo has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to reappear before the Asante Akropong Circuit Court in Atwima Nwabiagya North District on January 29, 2025.

Before the bail bond can be executed, the police must verify the address, AP13-Apatrapa, provided as his residence, to confirm its existence and whether he lives there.

Police Chief Inspector Ruth Gborson outlined the case details and identified Juliana Owusu Gyamfi as the complainant, a resident of Apatrapa.

Chief Gborson reported that on January 11 at around 7 a.m., the complainant discovered that GH¢6,000 had been stolen from her handbag, which was placed in front of her dressing mirror.

She reviewed her doorbell camera footage and discovered it had recorded the accused stealing the money. She promptly reported the incident to the Abuakwa police.

During the police investigation, they found the bracelet, waist bag, and ring seen on the accused in the footage in his room.
