Aston Villa revealed yesterday that they have acquired defender Andres Garcia from Spanish club Levante. The initial fee is reportedly around £6 million ($7.4 million).
The 21-year-old versatile player, capable of performing at right-back or in advanced positions, started as a youth player at the Segunda Division club before making it to the first team. He has scored three goals this season. Villa has not revealed the transfer fee or contract duration.
Garcia becomes Villa’s second acquisition in the January transfer window, following the signing of Dutch international Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund for £19 million.
Unai Emery’s Villa is currently eighth in the Premier League and fifth in the 36-team Champions League table as they prepare to face Monaco on Tuesday.
