President John Mahama has designated Mohammed Abdul-Salam, the former Northern Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Lottery Authority (NLA).
The appointment was made by Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 45(1) of the National Lotto Act, 2006 (Act 722).
This was announced in a release issued by the Secretary to the President on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
According to the statement, the appointment is pending the Constitutionally required advice of the Board of the Authority, provided in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
It further indicated that the appointment takes effect from Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
A new appointment was made after Samuel Awuku resigned as Director-General of the NLA on January 13, 2025.
In a formal letter to President John Mahama, Mr. Awuku expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve since his appointment in August 2021 by former President Nana Akufo-Addo.
